August 30-31, 2008

Renegade Province rounded up the troops and entered as one of the top 10 teams in Asian ultimate. We got off our JetStar flight at 11 pm Friday night and showed up on the fields the next morning after 2 first round byes (thank you TD!). Our first game was a tough one against Freakshow White (Singapore), who had already warmed up in a previous game. Renegades from far and wide used the time to get used to each other on the playing field. By the second half we got our groove going, but time cap was called and we ended at 5-7. 

Our next 3 games against Shiok (Singapore), Soidawgz (Bangkok), and Pilipinas finished out during some pouring rain and muddy puddles. The first two were close games but ended in losses for Renegade. Pilipinas was the #2 seed and the game was definitely a blowout. Knowing the day was nearly over, Britt pulled out the energy to fire up his D and layed out all over them. 

Into Sunday's playoff bracket, Renegade was seeded 10th and played the #7 seed Disc Knights White (Singapore) and won! The next games were tougher, against #5 seed Hong Kong, where we started out strong, but HK took it away at the end. And then a rematch against Pilipinas. Another tough game, but the team played much better, scoring 4 or 5 points to the previous day's 1.

We ended the tournament #7 overall, out of 22 teams in attendance.  Not bad! Definitely looking forward to the next opportunity. Big thanks to our pickups from all over Asia and to our ever encouraging and strategizing captains Britt and Craig. : )
